The never-ending cycle of home ownership responsibilities has my head in a fog. My to-do list keeps getting longer and longer. I cross one item off the list, two more get added; I cross two items off the list, several more get added.
Things are meant to be in order in my world, but chaos is the name of the game lately. Here are a few to-dos that have been stacking up: clean the clutter out of two kitchen drawers (yes, Brittany, I have two junk drawers); get the closets organized; remove ugly floral wallpaper from the half bathroom; paint the bathroom and the half bathroom; buy and hang curtains for the master and guest bedroom; sand and stain the patio table; and the list goes on. These tasks aren’t too difficult, and any handyman could get my to-do list down to a minimal size in a week or so. But, I actually enjoy working toward a finished house that I’ve come to understand will never truly be 100 percent complete.
Even the little stuff, like downloading hundreds of pictures from my camera to my computer, seems to be put on hold these days. So what’s taking up all my time? Could it be my rambunctious puppy that destroys everything, my older dog that sheds a lot or my not-so-organized fiancé? I’m not sure if I’m abnormal or if there are others out there like me who seem to always be playing pick-up sticks after the ones they love. I’m quite sure I’m not the only one, but please confirm. ☺
Secretly, I’m praying Rosie the robot will one day pay my house a visit. For now though, I’ll just keep crossing things off my to-do list and hope that my world will one day be in immaculate order.

I feel your pain, Kristy. When my wife & I moved into our home almost 2 years ago, our inspector gave me a long list of things I should work on in the house. Most were minor maintenance issues, but given that they were on a list, I felt I HAD to get them done. Two years later, I’ve made progress (especially on the larger issues like our HVAC system), but in spite of the still-long list, I’ve finally come to the realization that any house I live in will never be 100% perfect. And like my Grandpa told me, no matter how much a person accomplishes, they’ll always have a to-do list.
Called out! Although I am constantly dreaming of a clean, clutter-free house, I never seem to get caught up. You’re not alone!! I will give you credit: you give the appearance of having it all together, even hiding your infamous junk mail pile when guests come over. Yes, I know it’s there, lurking in the cabinet
