It's about to be a new year and I refuse to make a resolution.  I like to think my mantra for 2009 will be a lot like Nike's old advertisement, "Just Do It!"  However, there are several things I plan to get rid of in 2009: My friends who complain about ex-boyfriends, clothes that no longer fit and 10 extra pounds of body fat.

But then there's my girl.  She's a trusty old pal that never seems to ask for much and I take her everywhere under the sun.  My Mitsubishi Eclipse is due for a tune-up and I have tried my best to put this off until the spring but my girl is giving me grief.  She's starting to make weird noises and her service engine light keeps coming on.  After having her for four years, I have thought about giving her up in 2009 for a Jeep Liberty, but I feel as though I'd be turning my back on an old friend.

The exterior of my car is a pearl color and the upholstery matches my golden complexion.  We're like two peas in a pod except, I'm alive and she wants to stay that way.  In fact this week, I started looking through Angie's List to see which auto service company is worthy of my business.  Whomever I decide to take her to for a tune-up, I hope they use great care with my girl. Besides, I need her for at least another year before I give her up. I feel like such a bad parent.
